Anyway, I shall update on my long delayed post on Cotton Pumpkins. For those asking, yes we still in progress of updating the new cottons (and some olds), just pray that the below rascals of mine do allow me to be in front of the pc a bit longer, and focus on my work :p

Why must this happened in the first place?

Grrr…

Luckily I do have some back ups on my own on the previous codings that I used, now the base is half ready. I’m still testing the system if all function runs well.

I need at least 2 more days to sync the database and recover the lost data. I might put up the store without proper product descriptions first and add that later (yes they’re all GONE too huwaaaa). So much of works have been done on getting good descriptions on each of the product and compiling the reviews, doing it again is seriously not what I look forward to.

At time like this, I wish I have a helper. I wish there’s someone else to babysit my sons just so I can focus on my works here. Currently, I’m only able to do work while they’re sleeping, and you mothers out there surely know how kids at the age of 2 and 3 just wouldn’t wanna nap in the afternoon!

But nah, I should count my blessing instead when they did not complain at all when (breakfast,) lunch (and dinner) is (/are) served (a bit) late than usual and taste rather too simple for their liking.

Don’t get frustrated or panic if you could not get to the webstore. I notice many of you are trying to google for thelilcaliph or lil caliph or thelilcaliph.com, and still the page you get is this page. I purposely redirected you here, so at least you know the story behind the ‘maintenance period’ now.

To be honest, progress on re-developing the webstore is very slow, as I’m currently tied up with the major ’event’ next year. I’m not ready to reveal it just yet, but I soOOO can’t wait to let it out and definitely very excited about it

Okay, till later. It’s 6.55am and believe it or not I haven’t sleep at all and I have to get up at 8am to prepare my sons. Gosh.

I do not know how to start, but most of you know that we have just completed the maintenance works less than a month ago when we decided to shift our previous host to a local host as to provide faster access to the system.

While I was testing some scriptings last nite, I found errors on the database and immediately I emailed the Technical Support to restore my database, just like I used to do with the previous host and those days, they managed to do it within the hour and without any glitches. Mind you I was with them for more than a year and was a happy customer indeed. Even we’re thousands of miles away, their professional help was always on the instant and they offered support beyond their responsibilities, and best, without a single fee.

And how am I supposed to know that the greatest mistake I’ve done (so far) was to switch the host and chose a lousy provider instead. Internet-webhosting not only couldn’t even reply a single email and support tickets (I sent a lot, mind you), they couldn’t even have the courtesy to grab the phone to make a short call to me to explain the situation and worst, they did not make any back ups to my db eversince the transfer!!!

Oh, I guess that’s not the worst, my greatest fear happened when they actually overlapped my current db with their ‘recent’ back up, which was the 14th Oct’s! That was a month ago for Godsake, and they did that without telling me nor asking for my confirmation and yang tersangatlah ‘pandainya’, they did that without backing-up the original db even!!! 

Can you imagine how mad I was? I don’t have a single data now on every new customers nor new orders from the 14th Oct onwards. And to make thing worst, there’s some pending orders which payment have been received but I couldn’t track the phone number or email of that customer!

The manager, Mr Shamsul wasn’t on his smart day (if there’s any) when he sarcastically told me, “We only charged you RM80 for a year, what do you expect?”.

Hooohhhh. So if it’s only RM80 does that means a good Technical Support has been omitted? That you couldn’t spare at most 30sen worth of calling me back after at least 10 emails plus support tickets sent (the junior support promised to call back but he never did), and I was the one calling the manager and waited more than one hour on the line while he tried to do his best restoring the db. Don’t tell me you’re using prepaid Mr!

And I still havent receive any call from anyone from the company to at least say “we’re sorry”,. I’m pretty sure as a host provider, and a company who provide server as their services, back ups should be done everyday and that doesnt take a genius to figure out!!

I’ve told the manager that I’ll spread the word and now after reading this could you be a dear and help me spread the words too? It hurts knowing all your precious works are gone due to negligence of others, worst this involves customers and orders information. I know I should have back up my whole system on my own but I took that for granted as it was perfectly done by the previous host all these while. Well, I learned the Harddddd way.   

So if you’re looking for a host, you know you should stay away from internet-webhosting.

p/s: I’m doing all I can now to redo all the works that was done during last maintenance period. It took me the whole month last time but I’ll do my best to put up the store again by Monday. To those who have placed the order and still pending or progressing, please drop me an email at info@thelilcaliph.com. I’ll do whatever I can to track down the information again. Please forgive me and bear with this situation. I cried buckets and couldn’t afford to cry anymore. Please please, if anyone of you know a good local host provider, do recommend me as well.

To host-99, I know you’ll get a trackback from this entry, all I can say is I’m praying hard that you can expedite setting up a server in the Asian country, be it Hong Kong, Singapore or best, Malaysia. I couldn’t find anyone better than you and would sign up immediately should you already set up one here.

I know it’s been too long. Just an update, and a hint, I’m actually busy planning for major happening in 2009. It’s only days shy to 2009, and I’m really Busy getting everything in place. Hopefully my dreams will come true.

Btw, I even have plans made right up to our 2010 BIG BIG DREAMS.
